கசூரினா கடற்கரை

இக் கடற்கரை யாழ்ப்பாணக் குடாநாட்டிலே முதன்மையும் அழகும் நிறைந்த கடற்கரையாகத் திகழ்கின்றது. இது காரைநகர் பிரதேச செயலக பிரிவில் J/46, J/47 என்னும் கிராம அலுவலர்கள் பிரிவுகளை உள்ளடக்கியதாக காணப்படுகின்றது. பயன்தரு தென்னை மரங்கள் நிறைந்த கோவளம் என்னும் குறிச்சியில் அமைந்திருக்கின்றது. இங்குள்ள கடற்கரையின் சிறப்பு என்னவெனில் கற்களே இல்லாது மணலாக காட்சி தருவதுதான். இனமத பேதமின்றி எல்லா இன மக்களும் இங்கு வருகை தருவதைக் காணலாம்

தினமும் வெளிறாட்டு உல்லாச பிரையாணிகளையும் தென்னிலங்கை மக்களையும் கவா்ந்து மக்கள் வந்துபோகும் பிரதான சுற்றுலா தலமாக விளங்கும் கசூரினா கடற்கரை பிரபலமானதற்கு காரணங்கள் இங்கு அளவான அலையுடன் சரிவு குறைவான கடல் மண்ணும் அமைந்திருப்பதால் கடலில் குளிப்பவா்களுக்கு இது இதமான அனுபவமாக அமைந்துள்ளது.

கடற்கரை மணற்பரப்பில் அழகிய வடிவங்களில் சிப்பி, சங்கு, கடற்கல் போன்றவை கிடைக்கும் என்பதால் இங்கு வரும் உல்லாச பிரையாணிகள் நினைவாக இவற்றை சேகரித்து செல்லுவா்.

இந்த கடற்கரைபில் நின்று பாா்க்கும் போது ஆங்கிலேயரால் பல நூற்றாண்டுகளுக்கு முன் கடற்போக்குவரத்து அடையாளமாக கட்டப்பட்ட கலங்கரை விளக்கம் எனப்படும் வெளிச்ச வீடு தென்படும்.

கசூரினா என்பதற்கு சவுக்கு மரம் என்ற அா்த்தம் இருப்பதாகவும் சவுக்கு மரங்கள் நிறைந்து காணப்படும் பகுதியாக இந்த கடற்கரை காணப்படுவதால் இந்த பெயா் ஏற்பட காரணமாக இருந்தது எனவும் செவிவழி தகவல்கள் உண்டு.

யாழ்ப்பாண மாவட்டத்தின் பிரதான சுற்றுலாதுறை வருவாய்க்கு கசூரினா கடற்கரை மிகமுக்கியமான பங்கு வகிப்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

காரைநகர் சிவன் கோயில்

ஈழத்துச் சிதம்பரம் என சிறப்பிக்கப்படும் காரைநகர் சிவன் கோவில் அல்லது சுந்தரேசுவரர் கோயில் அல்லது காரைநகர் திண்ணபுரம் ஈழத்து சிதம்பரம்யாழ்ப்பாண நகரிலிருந்து வடமேற்கே 10 மைல் தொலைவில் உள்ள காரைநகரிலே திண்ணபுரம் பிரிவிலே அமைந்துள்ளது. சிதம்பரத்திலே நடைபெறுவது போன்றே பெரும்பாலும் உற்சவங்கள் இந்த திண்ணபுரம் சிவன் கோயிலில் நடைபெறுவதால் அது ஈழத்துச் சிதம்பரம் என அழைக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றது.

இது 19ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் இடைப்பகுதியிலே அமைக்கப்பட்டது. ஈழத்துச் சிதம்பரத்தில் எழுந்தருளியுள்ள சிவனுக்குசுந்தரேசுவரர் என்றும் அம்பிகைக்குச் சௌந்தராம்பிகை என்றும் பேர். இக்கோயில் தொடக்கத்தில் ஆண்டி கேணி ஐயனார் கோயில் என்றே அழைக்கப்பட்டது^[1]. ஐயனார் கோயிலை அமைப்பதிலே முன்னின்ற அம்பலவி முருகர் என்ற பக்தரே பின்பு சிவன் கோயிலை அமைப்பதிலும் முன்னின்றவர்.

இத்திருக்கோயிலில் நடைபெறும் உற்சவங்களில் மிகப் பிரசித்தி பெற்றது திருவெம்பாவை உற்சவமாகும். நடராஜர் இரதாரோகணமும் ஆர்த்திராபிஷேகமும் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கவை. அபிஷேகத்தன்று மாலையில் திருவூடல் நடைபெறும். பங்குனி உத்தரத்தில் நிறைவடையும் படி சிவபெருமான் திருவிழா பத்துத் தினங்களும் ஆடிப்பூரத்தில் நிறைவடையும் படி அம்பாள் திருவிழா பத்துத் தினங்களும் நடைபெறுகின்றன. தைப்பூசம், மாசி மகம், ஆவணி சதுர்த்தி, நவராத்திரி, கார்த்திகைத் தீபம் என்பனவும் விசேடமாக இங்கு போற்றப்படுகின்றன.

கோவளம் வெளிச்ச வீடு

காரைநகரில் நீண்டு உயர்ந்து வரிசை வரிசையாக அமைந்த பயன்தரு தென்னை மரத் தோப்புக்கள் நிறைந்த கோவளம் எனப்படும் வளமான குறிச்சியில் கோவளம் வெளிச்சவீடு அமைந்துள்ளது. பார்ப்பவர்கள் பிரமிக்கத்தக்க கம்பீரமான தோற்றம் மிக்கது. கோவளம் வெளிச்சவீடு தொடர்பான ஆவணங்களில் Kovilan Point Light house is a Light house on the island of Karaitivu in northern Srilanka. எனக்குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
கோவளம் வெளிச்சவீட்டிற்கான நிலையம் 1899ஆம் ஆண்டு நிறுவப்பட்டது. 1916 ஆம்ஆண்டு கட்டப்பட்ட கோவளம் வெளிச்சவீடு 30 மீற்றர் (98 அடி) உயரம் உடையது. சதுரவடிவிலான அடித்தளமும் உருளை வடிவிலான கோபுரமும் முருகைக்கற்களால் (Coral Stones) ஆனது. வெளிச்சவீட்டின் 15 அடி 6 அங்குலம் உடைய சதுர வடிவிலான அடித்தளத்தின் மீது 18 அடி உருளை வடிவிலான 69 அடி உயரமுடைய கோபுரத்தின் மேற்பகுதியில் கண்ணாடியில் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட விளக்கு அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.. அடித்தளத்தில் இருந்து விளக்கு வரையிலான உயரம் 86 அடி 7 அங்குலம்.
வெளிச்சவீட்டின் கிழக்குவாயில் ஊடாகச் சென்று உட்பகுதியில் இரும்பினால் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள ஏணிகள் மூலம் வெளிச்சவீட்டின் பலகணிக்குச் சென்று அடையலாம். வெளிச்சவீடு பாதுகாப்பாக செயற்படுநிலையில் இருந்தபொழுது மேலே ஏறிச் சென்று பார்வையிடக் கூடியதாக இருந்தது. வெளிச்சவீட்டின் உச்சியில் இருந்து கடற்பரப்பையும்; காரைநகரையும் பார்வையிடக்கூடியதாகப் பலகணி (open gallery) அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
ஒவ்வொரு 30 செக்கனுக்கு 2 வெள்ளை ஒளியைப் பாய்ச்சும் இவ் ஒளி 11 கடல் மைல் தூரத்திற்குச் செல்லும் (Range 11 Nautic miles ) செல்லும். முதலாவது வெளிச்சம் காரைதீவின் வடமேற்கு மூலையில் இருந்து ஒரு கம்பத்தில் இருந்து காட்டப்பட்டது. வெளிச்சவீடு செயற்படு நிலையில் இருந்த போது எரிவாயுவின் மூலம் ஒளியூட்டப்பட்டது. இவ் வெளிச்சவீடு ஒளிரும் பொழுது கசூரினாக் கடற்கரையில் நின்று சிறப்பாக அவதானிக்க முடியும். வெளிச்சவீட்டுக்கு அருகாமையில் பாதுகாவலர்கள் (Keepers) கடமை நிமித்தம் வசித்த விடுதியும் காணப்படுகின்றது.
காரைநகர் வெளிச்சவீடு காரைநகரின் பழம் பெருமையின் சின்னமாக அல்லது வரலாற்று அடையாளமாக (Symbol of old glory or landmark) தொல் பொருள் பெறுமதிமிக்கதான (Archeological value) வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்பு மிக்க (Historical importance) கட்டுமானமாகும்

Stretched across the northern perimeter of Karaitivu, Casuarina Beach welcomes local and foreign holidaymakers for its wide expanse, shallow waters, and characteristic trees that lend the beach its name. The characteristic shrubbery serves as a compact coastal forest, serving as the ideal spot for some shade from the northern sun. The Karainagar Lighthouse is also located at the eastern tip of the beach, making this shoreline one of the most picturesque in the region.An attractive stretch of sand with good swimming and, as the name indicates, a shoreline backed by mature casuarina trees. It's popular with folks from Jaffna on weekends and has a couple of food vendors for a bite to eat and a drink. Buses from Jaffna to Karainagar pass within 2km of the beach. There are three-wheelers available for onward transport.

This temple situated at Thinnaipuram, on the North of Karainagar is called Eezhathu Chidambaram is one of the famous Lord Shiva temple in Jaffna.
According to the legend, when Siva devotee Ambalavi Murugar was building the Siva temple, lord shiva came in the dream of his devotee Murugar and guided him to choose the Sivalingam, which was enshrined in the Sanctorum of the temple. The presiding deity is called Lord Sunthareswar. Annually three festivals are celebrated grandly in the temple. The thiruvembavai festival for 10 days in December and Thifuvathirai festival are two of the very popular festivals.
The pooja and ceremonies performed for the principal deity are similar to Chithamparam temple and Arudra Darshan festival is celebrated in grand scale
This temple is main deity is Sivalingam and the temple has Tirtha and sthala viruksham This inner sanctum, dedicated to main deity Sivan has large Gopuram and other Sanctum dedicated to deity Iyanar has small Gopuram.
The temple sanctum contains Sivalinga and Ananda Tandava Nadarajah aspect signifier. The demon under the right feet signifies ignorance under his feet right eye, left eye and third eye signify sun, moon and knowledge fire.
Festivals (Brammotshavam) of the temple holds in the north of March and December. First Mahakumbabishekam was held in the year 1948
